The Auxological Institute of San Luca in Milan, one of the leading private structures in the medical sector, has decided to organize a Urinary Cytology Congress, to promote general knowledge and to encourage the adoption of the reporting standard that follows the guidelines of The Paris System (TPS).
Urines represent about the 30% of all cytological tests carried out in the world, with a relevant diagnostic ability in relation to the development of dangerous cancers for men and women. However, today, there is still no worldwide standard for cytological reporting in this field.

In 2016, “The Paris System for Reporting Urinary Cytology” was published with the clear aim of standardising rules and diagnostic criteria in the field of urinary cytology and thus adopting uniform reporting; among its founders stands Professor Prof. Philippe Vielh, a luminary of pathological anatomy.
This publication has surely led to an improvement in the reporting of urinary specimens but, unfortunately, there is still a lack of uniformity which makes inequalities persist.
This publication has surely led to an improvement in the reporting of urinary specimens but, unfortunately, there is still a lack of uniformity which makes inequalities persist.
It is for this reason that the Auxological Institute of Milan, upon the initiative of Professor Giacomo Gazzano, has decided to organize the first Urinary Cytology conference with the attendance of highly prestigious speakers, also allowing Italian participants to obtain CME credits.
The speakers at the conference will be Dr. Vielh, Prof. Pierconti, Prof. Fadda, Dr. Pecciarini, Prof. Cestari, Prof. Boldorini, Prof. Bovo and Dr. Bollito. In apertura ed in chiusura prenderà la parola il Dr. Gazzano, Responsabile del servizio Anatomia Patologica dell’Istituto Auxologico stesso.
During the day, a lectio magistralis will be given and several updates on The Paris System will be provided by Professor Viehl himself; this will be followed by an explanation of the urologists’ point of view and the presentation of some cases to examine better the treated matter.
Hospitex International, leader in the liquid-based cytology field, will be the main sponsor of the event.
